Fireworks

Penang, being predominantly Chinese, blows off some serious fireworks--I have never seen such a dedicated lot that would let off vast quantities of high level stuff.

I was thrilled to join in... after all, it is culturally appropriate, right?

Great fun to sample the huge variety of fireworks. The prices vary greatly, but much cheaper than what I was buying in the US.

Claudia, our host for the evening, was very happy to share so that we all had a great time!

Groups of frenzied kids had to be kept apart for safety's sake! then we realized the older kids were also firing off big stuff among the little kids and had to be sent off down the street.

Must have more!

It was not easy to find a lull to set up the next salvo.

We loved lighting up the happy fireworks in the cones--sounded just like popcorn and looked gorgeous.

We like the pretty fireworks, not the noisy stuff.
