I had spent a very long time searching for a good sushi and sashimi buffet in Penang, and after a horrid experience at a restaurant that hacked up poorly thawed fish and served stiff meat that had been held too long, I was losing hope.

Then enter Kampachi restaurant at the Hotel Equatorial. This place handled the frantic hordes with elegance--the chef fawned over the children and offered Aria Salmon Sashimi florettes made with belly cuts after she returned 3 times in a row for sashimi.
The food was at such an exquisite level that it brought out the foodie in Ian.
We did not make Aria share her gift from the sushi chefs, but even she tired of eating massive quantities of luscious salmon.

The kids had never seen a cotton candy machine outside of a fair, and so this was great fun!
Sugar high!
There were so many delectable desserts, but we were stuffed to the gills and concerned about our well being.
We could hardly pause for a picture, but we insisted on paying homage to the craftsmanship.
And of course, we had to send Aria back to thank the chef for the gift and get a picture with him.
Thank you, Kampachi! We will be back!
