Aria Soccer
Aria has really enjoyed learning to play soccer and training with her team of classmates. Here, you see her fiercely guarding the goal.
Some of her classmates are certainly more aggressive about charging the ball, and a few have some skills!
But Aria is determined!
The beloved coach Frohlich gives the girls an encouraging pep-talk!
Go Aria, go!
Someday, the girls will learn to fan out and guard zones. Meanwhile, they are having an awesome workout!
A happy, sweaty girl!

Ipoh--Roots
Once in a while, we discover a place that becomes special to us. Roots is such a place.
Located 30 minutes North of Ipoh in Jalan Rambutan, this gated compound features Eco-Friendly accommodations that range from "Kampong Chic" to Snazzy Treehouse complete with jacuzzi on the balcony.
There are plenty of activities for the kids from complimentary foosball, table tennis, a lovely pool, a dog, numerous birds, fruit trees that produce, and a babbling brook that swells with rain.
We literally spent hours in this gazebo with coffee and snacks while the children roamed freely from the hammocks, to the stream to chuck rocks and float giant leaves. It was guilt-free relaxation!
The gracious owners took great care to integrate the buildings among the fruit and shade trees. The bathrooms are inside the brick walls.
This female Doberman was simply sweet and relaxed!

The simple breakfasts featuring both local and western foods were delicious and crafted in small batches and served buffet style.

There is so much to do, that we did not miss the lack of internet--usually a downside with our tech-happy family.
We selected the Orchard Rooms that had 2 twins pushed together, and 2 bunk beds for a total of 6 to sleep.
Each room had a bug-zapper for mosquitoes, air-conditioning and a fan.
The open air bathrooms (walls but no roof), were an interesting concept, and you had to be awake enough at night to climb down the stairs. fortunately, it did not rain. The nicer rooms had ensuite baths attached to the bedrooms on the same level.
