Our Boxes Arrive...

...Barely!

It had been so long since seeing the boxes that I was a bit surprised at how much we shipped.

And my heart sank when I saw what state they were in--it was obvious that they had been loaded, unloaded and reloaded so many times that the 4X Use U-Haul Boxes were reduced to crumpled heaps in some instances.

We lost many plates, platters and pottery. Glass in frames shattered. The most heartbreaking were my favorite ceramic red bowl that Monica made, and a crack formed in one of Monica's Grandma's crystal dishes.

Nevertheless, it was a good decision to have shipped so much since we already had these items and the cost per box was hardly US$30 all in. Next time we ship, I will hyper pack everything--expecting the roughest handling!

Now, with 3 days to school starting, we will probably spend the next few weekends unpacking and finding homes for our belongings from the US. Our condo is beginning to feel a lot more like home!

Our open, clean condo suddenly became cluttered, grimy and discombobulated!

We salvaged what we could by mending the less damaged ceramic, but ended up trashing quite a few platters and frame-glass.
