Baking Gluten Free Bread

Monica spent more time baking gluten free bread. By this time, she had adapted her recipe to suit the high humidity and ambient temperature.

Our oven was also struggling to keep temperature, but she soldiered on to make yummy bread for our household.

Monica, who rarely documents her experimental cooking, finally wrote recipes for these permutations since they tasted so good!

We were grateful to have access to inexpensive rice and tapioca flours.

Almond and coconut flour was difficult to find and very expensive when available.

Return to Pulau Song Song--with the Trescotts and Kilgos

We had so much fun on our cruise with the Reimer family that we had to repeat it with more friends!

So here we go again on another perfect day!

On this trip, there were quite a few curious kids who were eager to try their hand at the helm. Maybe that's why we wandered all over! Just kidding--they each did a fine job steering the boat.

Finally, when we approached the first island, I asked Michelle to take the helm while I cast the popper to see if something like a Barracuda would take it. A few tiny 'cudas and Garfish came rushing up to look at the lure, but were not large enough for a hook-up.

So I sent Aria in to spot the coral. But the water was so murky with algae that we could not see anything.

Still, we had a fun time splashing around.

And wetting the lines to catch little Groupers.

Once again, the fish were coming up even despite the splashing around!

Soon, the tide turned and a current set up so I tossed out a life-ring on a line for the kids to hold for safety.

We even caught a stonefish... apparently they are quite good to eat.

Tiny parrotfish.

I happened to catch the largest fish of the day... a nice brown spotted grouper. I called it a Leopard Grouper.

Scorched and salted by the heavy spray on the way home, we returned to our familiar skyline.

Ian's Now a Teenager!

Look familiar? we're back to the spray park between TESCO and Straits Quay.

"I don't need my hair washed!!!"

Happy teen-hood birthday, son!

And what better way to begin the teenage rambunctiousness than to eat your cake without hands!

And celebrating with sparklers! Thank you Michelle!
You think of such fun things to add to our parties!
