After two days of temple runs, we allowed ourselves a lazy day sleeping in and playing in the hotel!
Ian decided to try to traditional Khmer Rice Porridge with salted duck egg and pickles. He did not like the pickles too much.
One of the last times on the moped wagon!
When Aria entered this sweltering hot market with pungent fishy fumes, she exclaimed: "Ah, we are home!"
There were food vendors in a corner. Monica and kids wanted to try what looked like dumplings that took about 20 minutes to finish cooking.
Meanwhile, Uncle Heng and I hit the noodle stall and devoured plates of tripe and pork.
There was plenty of trash on the floor, but it did not deter us.
The noodles were cheap and good.
And so was the side of fried pork and small intestines.
When the kids and Monica came over, we had to order a few more rounds to appease them!
We explored the rest of this small market
To find children doing what they do best :)
We stepped out one of the side entrances and discovered this pub offering draft beer for US$0.50 a mug. Why of course we should stop!
Ian was really curious about Frog-Legs, so we ordered a plate. He agreed that they could have been very small chicken legs... they did a good job cooking them.
Ian: "I was terrible at bargaining (in my opinion) in that I felt terrible about asking for lower when the guy was guilting me. I was even felt guilty asking to switch with dad or uncle Heng to bargain for me.I also felt varying levels of guilt when other kids tried to sell me the same things at different places. Other than that, I loved the people! The part I got to see consisted of good humor and a kind, joyous way of doing things while still managing to be clever most of the time."
That night, Uncle Heng brought us to his favorite music tapas lounge, 'The Grey', that served some really tasty eats!
A mint and green pepper mojito and frozen margarita for us adults...

and Banana Shake and Watermelon Smoothie for the kids.
Toast with pork rillete, and saucisson board which delighted us, especially Aria.
Crispy prawn fritters and trio of cheese board.
A pate with naan bread and prawn fritters on sugarcane (viet style)
Indonesian Chicken Satay and a legit burger.
Aria: "I wasn't feeling too adventurous, so I just ate the hamburger. It was the first burger where I LIKED the tomatoes and onions with it! The live music here was smooth jazz. The frontliner was hilarious between songs and cracked many jokes."
Vegetable Kebab.
Special thanks to Uncle Heng for sharing your Cambodia with us!
