Butterfly Farm

When we arrived in July, we were immediately swept up into the busyness of starting my job, setting up a home, starting school, etc. We finally found some time to play tourist, and loved the Butterfly Farm!

We found this functional display of chrysalis hatching butterflies just beyond the entrance of the farm.

A very rare red-tail birdwing butterfly was pumping out its wings!

These butterflies are even rarer than the yellow birdwing variety being propagated at Dalat IS.

Almost immediately, I was able to pick up butterflies by coaxing them onto my finger.

This was a very cool morning and we had arrived shortly after the farm opened.

Many butterflies were docile at this early hour, and I showed the kiddos what I was doing.

Soon, they were handling them carefully and confidently!

There were other critters in the Butterfly Farm including millipedes, fish, a huge green iguana that is about 6 feet long, ducks, giant snapping turtle, even a rhinoceros beetles.

Still, butterflies were the star attraction of the farm.

As the Sun warmed the enclosure, the butterflies became restless, and crowds began arriving. It was time to leave.
