Perhentian with the Chans--Diving and Snorkeling

Breakfast was a very nice buffet!

Egg station with outstanding omelettes, scrambled eggs, sausage, beef bacon, hash browns, fresh fruit!

And then a little praying mantis decided to visit!

The food was good and priced reasonably for a resort destination. The buffet at the Tuna Bay Resort was a solid start to our active days with plenty of proteins and fruit.

As soon as the kids finished eating, they could not wait to explore the tranquil beach.

Soon, it was time for my refresher course and first dive in over a decade!

The dive shop was kind enough to send their boat for me so that I could avoid the jungle trek over the small headland.

Years later, I still adore diving! I now hope I can get the entire family certified to dive!

Meanwhile, the families continued to play on the beach.

It was so easy to view the vast quantity and variety of fish!

Aria was already in love with this place!

When I returned from my wonderful dive off the beach where I saw a shark, 2 foot clown triggerfish (my nemesis) and a huge Hawksbill Turtle, we decided to take a water taxi to the other side of the bay where the Coral View Island Resort (CVIR) and my dive shop (Prodivers) was located.

When we first arrived, we spotted these two critters by the hammock!

The large rocks around this side of the bay allowed us to sneak up on the fish, or rather the fish sneak up on us! They seemed completely non-plussed that we were there!

Note to self--bring an underwater camera/enclosure for our camera for our next trip! These little fish were very inquisitive and nibbled our toes on occasion.

There, we snorkelled and soon spotted the 'same' fish I saw while diving--a massive Clown Triggerfish that was playing in the shallows just 15 feet from shore. A 5 foot shark in about 20 feet of water and a large Hawksbill Turtle the size of your coffee table.

We could have stayed out there snorkeling, only the legitimate concern of getting over-cooked in the sun brought us out of the water.

We took the opportunity to hydrate and grab a bite to eat before boarding the water taxi back to the Tuna Bay.

The food took a while to arrive, but we got to chat with a few expatriate American Guys who were vacationing. They lived around Terengganu.

We would have lolled around and enjoyed the moment, except that we saw the water taxis arrived on time! Go figure!

The Chans were already headed towards them, so we had to wolf the last bit of food down and hoof it!
