When dad came to visit at the end of July, we missed mom because she had to stay back in Singapore to watch over her aging dog, Tesse. It was clear that she was missed and we were excited to have her visit from Thursday October 13, 2011 to Tuesday October 18, 2011!
One of mimine's (French for grandma) first observations after the kiddos played in Aria's Room was that it looked "very lived in"! True--it is time to get more storage solutions to help organize Aria's collection of keepsakes.
Mom really enjoyed meeting our community through food, and spent many of our meals at our Wet Market Hawker Center and Hillside Stalls. But I knew she could not help herself for long and had to spend some therapy time cooking a "simple" meal for us!
True to her nature and innovative flair, mom whipped up contrasting dishes with ingredients in the fridge using the limited condiments and sauces we had.
I think we all over-ate during that meal...
Okay, Ian didn't think he over-ate...
That weekend, we let Mochi explore the landing outside our apartment for the first time. It was the perfect excuse the children to set up a fort and utilize the very curious cat as the "monster"!
Aria also bought a remote controlled car, which really intrigued Mochi.
Mom really enjoyed watching the heavy bird traffic. During an afternoon when we are the pool, half a dozen metallic green birds with orange beaks and red shrouds launched from their perches on the tree nearby and plopped into the pool for a bath and a drink!
We even got to watch this spiraling sea-eagle soar as a blustery front blew in.
With so much activity, Ian and Aria loved bed time stories with mimine, and Aria picked stories that were particularly long (smart girl)!
