Bangkok--Wat Arun, Adjoining Buddhist Temple

When we first arrived, Monica noticed a Buddhist Temple next to the Wat Arun Ruin. Since we had not visited any Buddhist Temples as a family, we thought it was a good idea to have a look. Outside, I tried to out-ugly a statue guarding it. Looks like I won...
The temple was covered in interesting pottery and painted murals.

We could tell it was very old if only because it was peeling!
The statue guards were interesting to photograph.

We were intrigued by the minute details on the building.
These golden buddhas lined the entire temple interior wall.

Statue guards lined the courtyard.

A pretty lily was growing inside a massive ceramic cauldron.

Some of the stone guards had happy faces.

Finally, we slipped off our shoes in preparation to enter the temple's sanctuary.

Within, we found a shrine.

And fascinating murals.

Time was wasting--we had better move on to Wat Arun soon!
