Trescott Family Goodbyes and the Venerable Yoong Kee 'Eating Shop'

We spent a long languid lunch at the Old City Cafe with the Trescott Family, but still felt it was too short to say bood-bye after 2 hours!

We met up with the Koay Family that evening to eat at "Yoong Kee Eating Shop" a cafe that has been around so long that the original phone number was '296'

Benny warned me that this place was challenging to many locals, let alone westerners because of its very rustic facilities, or lack of.

But the food... was amazing! And was worth the 45 minute wait since they cook all the food for a table at a time!

So we walked around the area to pass the time while Benny held our table.

I had tasted this famous Rojak Stall when we had Yam Rice on an earlier run.

These old food stalls looked very promising--some other time perhaps!

Back at the cafe, they were still not quite ready to serve us... so we had to amuse ourselves for a while longer.

Finally, we knew we were close to eating when our utensils arrived at the table in tubs of boiling hot water! We knew this was their way of sanitizing our dining experience.

What took a long time to arrive was devoured in the fraction of the time!

After dinner, I dared a trip to the back to look at the cooking area and their 'toilet'. I shall not post a picture of the toilet...

As we left, we saw a bus pass that seemed almost as old at the cafe!
