Condo a la Dalat
It is time to take you on a virtual tour of the lovely condo that the school provided for us!
First, have a look at our living room--even much of the furniture, including the dark brown couches are school issued! the apple red wall helps us decorate the apartment in an eclectic way and so reminds us of our very first house in Waco on 44th Street!
The ceilings are high and there is crown molding throughout!
Here is the view the opposite way. The floor plan is very open and draws the sea breeze through very nicely.
I am currently sitting at the "wind tunnel" created between the dining area and kitchen where all the air passing through the house is funneled through a doorway and accelerates!
The kitchen is large, with an area that was probably a breakfast nook. But since we have a dining area, we have placed our 2 desktop computers there. The kitchen has granite counters and a good amount of cabinet space.
There is also a separate "wet kitchen" where the stove, washing machine and clothes drying area is located. The wet kitchen allows us to prepare foods without actually heating up the rest of the apartment.
The odd thing is that the stove is powered by propane bottles that need to be swapped out. Just like a portable arrangement!
Propane is inexpensive however--about RM26 (US$9) for a bottle that is about twice the size of a propane grill's
On the right is a doorway to the backroom that could be a live-in amah's quarters. But we use it as storage.
Ian's room has a short hallway and an attached bathroom. The bedroom could have passed off as a master bedroom in many lesser apartments!
We let him have this bedroom because he is neater, and we intend to let house guests use his bedroom when they visit. So make plans to come already?!! :)
Next, we have the common bathroom that Aria uses. Both children got to influence how their bedrooms and baths were decorated...
And both Ian and Aria have rooms of their own for the very first time. They are learning heaps about taking responsibility for maintaining their living spaces! They are getting better at keeping their rooms tidy!
Finally, we have our room! It is the size of a small studio apartment!
That is a king bed that the room has swallowed up!
We still have plenty of room for a reclining chair within. But the best part is the view when the curtains are drawn!
Even our master bath is lovely!
My favorite feature in all the bathrooms is a drain in the tile floor that allows for rapid cleanup with the shower hose!
Did you see the shower stall AND the rub?!
So, obviously we are very excited to be in this apartment--it fits our family, has a lovely open layout, it is washed by sea breezes, is within walking distance of the school (800 meters), has a nice pool and is very quiet (low density of residents).
Thank you, Dalat!
