We Made it to Hong Kong

We were warned at DFW that Cathay Pacific would impose a 1 carry-on bag rule. We had planned for each person in our family to drag a roll-on bag and carry their backpack. So we were nervous.

But, when we got to LAX, Cathay Pacific's solution was to check in our roll-on bags for no additional charge at the counter.

So Monica spent some time re-packing our bags for the 30-something'th time (she managed to transform our luggage into 4th dimensional marvels) and we ended up happier for the rest of our trip because we moved around with only half our bags!

We arrived at the fabulous Hong Kong Airport at dawn. the floor to ceiling picture windows on both sides of the terminal steeped the environment in plenty of natural light and provided magnificent views of the hillside and sea for weary eyes.

We plodded our way to the transit service lounge, and was informed that there was a duplicate lounge on the far side of the terminal that had no line for the showers. I balked at the price of using the showers, but realized that we had a 10 hour lay-over. The showers were invigorating!

Breakfast was next on our mind, and massive bowls of curry mee, congee, and plates of opulent dim sum!

After breakfast, we walked by numerous loungers for transit passengers to take naps. Brilliant idea!

Many of them were not occupied yet, but we needed to run off some of the kid's energy. One kiddo in particular, disagreed!

We found an area with a playground, restrooms, seating for adults, free wifi internet, and lovely views!

The food at Hong Kong International Airport was very good and reasonably priced, the amenities were comprehensive and very family friendly, the views spectacular and the natural light helpful to over-come jet-lag!

After 10 hours, it was time to board the plane for Penang, Malaysia!
