It was a sprint to leave the house--last minute cleaning, last minute packing. Check, double check, triple check the house to see if we had overlooked anything... the Shuttle Van is here! Thank God for the Airport Shuttle! Since it was 4th of July, and we were the only passengers on-board, we could divert the van to Richardson (for a nominal fee) to pick-up most of our check-in luggage that we staged there.
Having loaded up the van with the rest of our stuff, we were dropped at DFW.
At the airport, the kids amused themselves by exploring the terminal while we caught our breath and said good-bye to Texas. My head reeled with all the memories. I contemplated what we were leaving, and wondered about what was ahead of us.
Soon, the excitement of traveling took over again, and we resumed exploring! Time passed easily. It certainly helped that the Cathay Pacific 777 had an amazing entertainment system that lured us even from the much needed sleep!
So, that's how we left Texas after being here 11 years. No fireworks, no big send-off parties. There was simply no time amidst the intense traveling to see family, to meet packing and shipping deadlines. To end work. To end school. Through it all, Monica continued her Masters. And the hardest thing for me was wondering if we had made the right decision--all I could see at this moment was all the change I was asking the family to go through, all the wonderful relationships and things we were leaving behind. All for a promise of life resulting from obedience.
