We spend hours gazing at the views outside our windows... why not? The scenery changes frequently and is often spectacular! Despite the high humidity, the temperatures are very comfortable--daytime temperatures range from 24 degrees C to 30 degrees at mid-day (about 78 degrees F to 90 degrees F).

It stays cooler when it rains because a front often rolls in.
But, not all of us want to spend so much time gazing...

So we take lots of little trips walking around our neighborhood and even ride the bus to extend our range. Ian likes riding in-front to take it all in!
We also love our neighborhood wet market. There, we met this lady, Ah Lian Auntie, who calls our drink orders boisterously and smiles readily.
We see lots of fun things at the Wet Market... Ian and I are most fascinated by the seafood creatures.
The fresh chicken stalls are hazardous, however--we were warned (with good advice) to back away when the vendor raises his massive cleaver for a heavy strike to dismember the carcasses as the blow will inevitably splatter chicken juice everywhere!
We arrived in the height of Mangosteen Season, and have about eaten our weight in Mangosteens. We love our fruit stalls!
Ian also gravitated towards this Malay family who grated and pressed coconut for its milk. The patriarch is very patient and kind, and invites Ian to observe him working his hydraulic press.
