Our Wet Market Chef

Meet a chef in an unlikely place. Originally from Hong Kong, he rolls and steams fresh fish in addition to Chee Chong Fun and Sesame Balls.

The Chee Cheong Fun are sheets of rice noodle rolled on a marble slab to prevent sticking, and stuffed with fresh, succulent shrimp that are snappy and moist when steamed.

He serves the Chee Cheong Fun with a light soy sauce tinted with sesame oil, crunchy deep fried green onion, and a mild but earthy chili paste.

On this morning, Ian also discovered the joys of Teh Tarik (strong tea with sweetened condensed milk). Notice that he already polished off his plate of Chee Cheong Fun. He sometimes eats 2 plates!

Aria and Monica love Sesame Balls filled with Red Bean Paste.
