Walking to School in the Rain

The rainy season is upon us, and the kids think it is great fun to use their umbrellas in the light drizzle. Still a novelty, they explore the quirks of carrying an unwieldy device over their heads, discovering how an umbrella makes a delightful popping sound when you invert them suddenly!

There was even some chasing each other with the "Umbrella Monster"! Go figure!

All fun aside, I hope we don't have to walk to school during one of the torrential thunderstorms we have already seen come through--many of them pack fierce winds that blow the rain horizontally and throw sizzling lightning overhead!

It might be time to commit to a car... the question is what and how much! Up till now, walking has been a delight in the morning, with the hill assisting the trot down. It is climbing back up in the afternoon, in dress clothes, with stuff brought home for the evening that has been unpleasant, but hardly difficult.

Meanwhile, we are enjoying our daily jaunts to school. And this morning, there was literally singing in the rain from the kiddos!
